Indonesia- A strong earthquake struck Indonesia's most-populated island on early Monday evening, injuring two people and damaging nearly two dozen buildings. The tremors were widely felt in the capital Jakarta. The earthquake swayed tall buildings but caused no tsunami. Office workers said the swaying was felt for about 10seconds in high-rise buildings. The quake hit in the Indian Ocean 100 kilometers (62 miles) southwest of Sukabumi, a town in West Java province. It was about 171 kilometers (106 miles) from Jakarta.

In the Pacific -
Tropical storm 04w (Mawar) was located approximately 325 nm south-southwest of yokosuka, Japan. The final warning has been issued on this system by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. The system will be closely monitored for signs of regeneration.

In the Indian Ocean -
Tropical cycloneTwenty was located approximately 600 nm east-northeast of Madagascar.

SEVERE RAIN STORMS, FLOODING, LANDSLIDES -

Australia - Cyclone-like storms cause havoc across cities. The army has been called in to help Victorian residents lay sandbags to fend off floodwater, after cyclone-like storms leave a trail of destruction along Australia's east coast.
Roads were swamped and roofs ripped off yesterday as NSW was pummelled by storms with winds gusting up to 128km/h - equivalent to a cyclone. Huge swells and torrential rain smashed the coast as fallen power lines and trees plunged traffic into chaos.

India- Cyclone claims 1, injures 8 in Tripura. A seven-minute cyclone with a very high windspeed on Monday evening paralyzed life in North Tripura and Dhalai districts of Tripura. One person died and as many as eight others were injured in the storm.

EXTREME HEAT & DROUGHT / CLIMATE CHANGE -

India - Heat wave claims 30 lives in a day in Andhra Pradesh. “Severe heat wave conditions are prevailing over coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana.” On Saturday, mercury swelled to over 45 degrees Celsius across coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Weather plays spoilsport with cotton in Haryana, Punjab - The consistent dry and extreme hot weather in the states of Punjab and Haryana might affect the yield of cotton this year. The pre-monsoon showers that give strength and vigour to the crop skipped the area this season.
