In the Atlantic -
- Tropical storm Leslie was located about 485 mi [780 km] N of the Leeward Islands. Swells generated by Leslie could affect portions of the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for another day or so. Swells will also affect Bermuda and the U.S. East Coast from central Florida northward for the next several days.
- Tropical depression 13 was located about 1390 mi [2235 km] WNW of the Cape Verde Islands. The system could become a tropical storm today. Weakening is forecast to begin by Wednesday.

In the Eastern Pacific -
- Tropical depression John was located about 310 mi. [500 km] WSW of the southern tip of Baja California. No threat to land. John is forecast to become a remnant low by Wednesday.

Florida - 200 homes still underwater from Tropical Storm Debby. Although Florida mostly ducked any significant damage fromTropical Storm Isaac, residents in Lake City are struggling to recover after Tropical Storm Debby. Debby caused extensive flooding, several tornadoes and high winds.

Lingering remnants of Isaac prompts 11th tornado watch in Mississippi. The National Weather Service has already issued more than 60 tornado warnings due to Isaac across parts of the state with several tornado confirmations and reports since last Tuesday.

Typhoon Bolaven killed 48 people in North Korea and left more than 50 others injured or missing. The typhoon "brought big damage" to North Korea and displaced more than 20,000 people. Hundreds of trees were felled and power cut.
The North was still reeling from floods in June and July that killed 169 people. It is difficult to independently verify the casualty figures from North Korea. Typhoon Bolaven travelled up the western side of the Korean peninsula after causing transport chaos but limited damage on the Japanese island of Okinawa. In North Korea, the typhoon damaged thousands of homes and buildings and at least 50,000 hectares of farmland. The previous floods left 400 missing and also made more than 212,000 people homeless, in addition to those killed. The country asked the UN's World Food Programme for emergency food aid after the floods. The communist country cannot feed its population and relies on food aid, making any storm damage to crops a severe blow.
